FAQs
IF YOUR ANSWER ISN'T HERE, SIMPLY EMAIL ME AND ASK! I'M HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE.
Are your yoga classes beginner-friendly?
Yes! You'll probably surprise yourself with your ability.
Yoga offers something for everyone. Unless my class description specifies "Intermediate/Advanced" then all levels of fitness are welcome.
I teach in stages, offering progressions, regressions and modifications for each position so you can choose which option is best for you.
Yoga is all about leaving the ego at the door on the way in, which means taking everything at your own pace. We love you dearly, but no one else cares what you're doing on your mat - they're too busy concentrating on their own practice - promise! (and if they aren't, they ain't doing it right!!)
"Ooooft, I'm not flexible, I can't even touch my toes!!!"
You know what is a good remedy for this? YOGA!
This is the exact reason why you SHOULD go! As you work your way gently into this 5000 year+ practice, over time you will start to see your muscles loosen, lengthen and strengthen.
This is one of the many reasons behind a plethora of athletes, even some Olympic athletes, adopting a regular yoga practice into their fitness regimes.
I could barely touch my toes either when I started, but you know what - who REALLY needs to touch their toes, I ask?!
Alas, should this be your aim...I can help!
Do I have to bring anything with me?
A yoga mat and water! Most of the studios I teach in have their own mats for participants, however, a few don't.
If you wish to attend the St Margaret's Church (Newlands) class on a Thursday night, you'll need your own mat. (I have a few spare in case!)
These can be picked up cheaply from most supermarkets and/or sports shops, or online. No fancy mats required!
What Do I Wear?
Anything that's comfortable and allows you to move freely i.e. jogging bottoms, leggings, etc.
Nothing that is likely to restrict your movement.
Simple as that!
Do you have an old Bruce Springsteen concert t shirt in your wardrobe from 1998?! WONDERFUL! That'll do...
If I purchase a block of private sessions, does it have to be ONLY Yoga or ONLY Personal Training?
No! It's your money and your training sessions.
It can be a mixture of both if that is what you wish.
If I buy a block of classes, how long do I have to use them?
I offer both drop-in prices and blocks in my classes, as much as I can. Sometimes this is outwith my control (i.e. Glasgow University and other classes that you book directly with the venue)
However, in my own personal classes (Tuesday nights Bishopbriggs and Thursday nights Newlands), should you buy a block from me directly, they must be used consecutively.
I do allow for one week's wiggle room - because life happens! For example, if you buy a 4 week block from me, you have 5 weeks to use this.
If you buy a 1-2-1 block of 5 or 10 sessions they must be used within 6 months and I offer no refunds for these sessions once paid unless a note from a medical professional is provided and deems you physically unable to continue.
Can kids come along?
I am a kids yoga teacher and have a full disclosure and I do welcome kids into my classes if they wish to come. However, I specify teenagers as they are more likely to enjoy taking part in an adult-orientated yoga class. Younger kiddies may not necessarily enjoy this, hence why I hold my monthly Family Yoga Workshops between The Chakrs Hut in Bishopbriggs and Glasgow University.
"But yoga is a woman's thing!"
Says who?! This is 2019!
Do you have a musculoskeletal system? Then you can yoga just like the rest!
I do hear this SO MUCH. This is the very reason I decided to run men-only classes - and it did work a treat.
I have two very popular men's yoga classes on a Tuesday and Friday night. But men are welcome to ALL classes!
I have men in most of my classes, so fear not - PLEASE join us!
What is your refund policy for 1-2-1 session/blocks?
A minimum 24 hour cancellation policy applies to scheduled sessions. Sessions cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will be charged in full to the client or deducted from their pre-paid block. There are no refunds for block purchases unless a note from a medical professional is supplied as the reason you are unable to partake in any further exercise. Please note that any sessions purchased need to be used within 6 months and these are non-refundable.
Do you have any more questions regarding classes or training (sports, kids, pregnancy, corporate, personal training etc)?
Email me and I will answer your question as soon as possible. I may also add it to this page if it would be particularly beneficial for all to see.
